WW4
(Authors note: This is a short story about world war 4; it has the feel of a documentary recovered 300 years after the war ended, excluding the ending. I’m planning on editing this over and over again until it’s perfect but there is a LOT to be done.)
On the break of dawn, the year 2527 bullets plummeted down like rain, deadly rain. This was the sign of war. Citizens feared for their lives, major cities like Vegas and New York fled for cover. Most people were shot; the few that lived continued their lives as best as possible. All men were forced to fight while woman cared for their families, but still the population dwindled. This was war folks and there is no simple way to play. Spray and pray.
One year later, five star General Mr. Mathews; “it’s a pleasure to meet you sir”. The sergeant said, “Just Shut up and take me to the armory; we’ve got a war to fight”. “Yes sir” the pitiful pawn muttered. Squad 27 make your way to the front line, guard me with your life, “everybody get to the armory!” General Mathews shouted with a furious tone. It will be torturous, brutal and sadly many may die but it will be worth it. Arm the tanks and let’s get out of this pit.
11:16A.M., “Mr. Mathew sir, the command line on the north east side is down. Five injured, two dead, we need reinforcements”. General Mathews looked down and sighed then shouted in the loudspeaker, “Squad 17 B make your way to the north east side, and don’t let me down!”
As grenade pins were pulled, bodies fell, and explosions raddled the ground. The enemy was retreating, for now. As medics dragged the lifeless bodies back to camp scavenger’s raided guns and ammo. Squad 17 B just saved 18 lives all are rewarded with a shiny new rank; oh you can’t forget the high quality fully auto assault rifle, forged from the toughest steal around.
While dinner was in session the lieutenant heard a noise coming from the bushes. “Sniper! Everybody get down”. The shots whizzed past the general’s head, a near miss. As everybody fled for cover nobody realized that the new private was missing, same with the 48 caliber in the weapons closet. For the next three days, there was no sign of life in the woods.
Days grew misty, it was Tuesday; burial day. Many wives’s grieved their losses, but all knew they died for the greater good. As shovels bent and split, graves where dug deeper. It was terrible. Many regretted letting their loved ones join, but they didn’t have much of a choice. It was law.
After years of fighting, all of the world’s armies grew weak, sadly only one can win. Who would it be? Some said America would win, while few said Russia. It’s unclear who will win, but whoever did would go down in history and be treated like gods.
The final fight was upon us. The gloomiest day of the decade was nearly over. Two armies face to face, America and Russia. Who would win? Russia had fewer troops, but more ammo and guns. America had more troops and training, but less guns. American squads continue marching forward, guns drew high. Suddenly bullets were flying through the air, bodies fell. Not American bodies, but Russian. The war was over. The Americans won. The receiving General and the Colonel were dead. American flags stabbed in the backs of dying enemies. They died knowing they lost.
For centuries the American army was proud of their accomplishments. New founding countries grew strong. Tension slipped taught. Animosity grew and soon there would be a world war 5. Like a train nobody can stop it, anyone hit will be killed.
