responce to The road not taken

(authors note: this is a quick 5-1o minute response to a poem I analyses)

two choices, one common one uncommon. A world of pain and misery on one road, while the other one could be gracefully and enriched with excitement. But which is which, there is no going back. life is a one way trip. Deception and acceptance, you just don't know what will happen. and that's why life existed

ww4

WW4

(Authors note: This is a short story about world war 4; it has the feel of a documentary recovered 300 years after the war ended, excluding the ending. I’m planning on editing this over and over again until it’s perfect but there is a LOT to be done.)

On the break of dawn, the year 2527 bullets plummeted down like rain, deadly rain. This was the sign of war. Citizens feared for their lives, major cities like Vegas and New York fled for cover. Most people were shot; the few that lived continued their lives as best as possible. All men were forced to fight while woman cared for their families, but still the population dwindled. This was war folks and there is no simple way to play. Spray and pray.

One year later, five star General Mr. Mathews; “it’s a pleasure to meet you sir”. The sergeant said, “Just Shut up and take me to the armory; we’ve got a war to fight”. “Yes sir” the pitiful pawn muttered. Squad 27 make your way to the front line, guard me with your life, “everybody get to the armory!” General Mathews shouted with a furious tone. It will be torturous, brutal and sadly many may die but it will be worth it. Arm the tanks and let’s get out of this pit.

11:16A.M., “Mr. Mathew sir, the command line on the north east side is down. Five injured, two dead, we need reinforcements”. General Mathews looked down and sighed then shouted in the loudspeaker, “Squad 17 B make your way to the north east side, and don’t let me down!”

As grenade pins were pulled, bodies fell, and explosions raddled the ground. The enemy was retreating, for now. As medics dragged the lifeless bodies back to camp scavenger’s raided guns and ammo. Squad 17 B just saved 18 lives all are rewarded with a shiny new rank; oh you can’t forget the high quality fully auto assault rifle, forged from the toughest steal around.

While dinner was in session the lieutenant heard a noise coming from the bushes. “Sniper! Everybody get down”. The shots whizzed past the general’s head, a near miss. As everybody fled for cover nobody realized that the new private was missing, same with the 48 caliber in the weapons closet. For the next three days, there was no sign of life in the woods.

Days grew misty, it was Tuesday; burial day. Many wives’s grieved their losses, but all knew they died for the greater good. As shovels bent and split, graves where dug deeper. It was terrible. Many regretted letting their loved ones join, but they didn’t have much of a choice. It was law.

After years of fighting, all of the world’s armies grew weak, sadly only one can win. Who would it be? Some said America would win, while few said Russia. It’s unclear who will win, but whoever did would go down in history and be treated like gods.

The final fight was upon us. The gloomiest day of the decade was nearly over. Two armies face to face, America and Russia. Who would win? Russia had fewer troops, but more ammo and guns. America had more troops and training, but less guns. American squads continue marching forward, guns drew high. Suddenly bullets were flying through the air, bodies fell. Not American bodies, but Russian. The war was over. The Americans won. The receiving General and the Colonel were dead. American flags stabbed in the backs of dying enemies. They died knowing they lost.

For centuries the American army was proud of their accomplishments. New founding countries grew strong. Tension slipped taught. Animosity grew and soon there would be a world war 5. Like a train nobody can stop it, anyone hit will be killed.

Life in Furnace

(Authors note: This is a district writing assessment I wrote. In the beginning I describe Furnace as a real place but it isn’t furnace a prison in the book, the book is entitled Lockdown, by James Patterson.) (Its suppose to be a point of view essay, but unfortunately it reads similar to a summery)

Furnace penitentiaries, the world’s most top security prison, hundreds of people are calling this home. How would you feel if you were accused of murder and robbing houses, then sentenced to life in the land beneath hell? Alex and Donovan are cell mates, even though everybody sees life different here. Alex is a new fish and definitely has a lot to learn when it comes to prison life. Because everybody sees things differently people must learn how to live life in a prison

Even though, everybody says to not make friends, some still do. But why? Seniors have seen skirmishes, mauling and even riots. But friends show weakness, and gangs look for that. If you are always helping somebody, hanging with them when lockdowns aren’t present, the skulls will seek you out. They will show no mercy.

Furthermore, Alex’s cellmate, Donavan, shows no emotion at all. A fight breaks loose. He walks away. Meanwhile, Alex would join the skirmish risking his life just to save a “friend”. A gruesome fight against the most vicious gang, the skulls is unfolding. The standing inmates turn back as if watching was a death sentence. So some join fights, others avoid them. Some live long in the furnace while others quickly parish.

In conclusion, everybody sees emotion differently. Some avoid it while some come for it like a train. In a world with no friends, you trust nobody. But yet everybody then lives life differently, The faces don’t change but the events do.

the lottery

Lotteries are normally good right? Well in this short story winning the lottery turns bad. Violent stoning and brutal beatings is the reward, forced to play as a town tradition. While other towns to the north quit their dirty ways this Southern town continues to kill people for who know why. Themes play a huge a role in this story, like all stories there are themes but these events really happened, and that provides a bone chilling thrill when you discover that winning the lottery could cost you your life. The theme that I will be discussing today is luck and change. Luck is shown every day, if luck didn’t exist you could wake up with a knife in your back, a gun to your head, or even you guts bleed.

on another note, the author showed luck on the first few pages, waking up to a fresh crisp new day. People gathered outside your house, as your family rushes out the door you are forced to clean the dishes. When you are finished you quickly join in, you see children gathering stones. It’s your time to draw, DARN! A black dot. You pray for the luck of god do save you but it’s over. Luck in this story isn’t not really luck it’s more like defeat and demise but its still luck. Picking that dot is a one and a thousand chance.
When you see rocks wising past your face, mauls smacking you, punches throne, it’s not a fight it’s a STONING and it won’t last long. Soon it’s done and normal life continues, well excluding you.

In conclusion, themes are powerful. Determining the curse of everything written, stories to books all have themes. Ranging from betrayal to freedom. They can be manipulated and mutated into wretched beasts, some may seem peaceful than snap, a twist. Creative a book that you simply can’t but down. In this case it’s luck and chance. But rember this, you don’t know what’s going to happen next, fear, life and joy...

WW4 (unedited)

(Authors note: this is a short story about world war 4; it has the feel of a documentary recovered 300 years after the war ended, excluding the ending. I have no intentions on having it graded simply because I really don’t want to edit it, and it would take days)

The break of down, the year 2527 bullets plummeted down like rain, well deadly rain. This was the sign of war. One year later, five star general Mr. Mathews; it’s a pleasure to meet you. Mathews said in a deep voice, “shut up and take me to the armory; I’ve got a war to fight”. Yes sir the pitiful pawn muttered.

As grenade pins where pulled bodies fell, the enemy was retreating, for now. As medics dragged the lifeless bodies off the battleground scavenger’s raided guns and ammo. Squad 17B just saved 18 lives, and the Cornel’s squad is eaten well tonight burgers and steak, only the elite get this kind of service.

Days grew misty, its Tuesday; burial day. Many wives’s grieved their losses, but all knew they died for the greater good. As shovels bent and split, graves where dug deeper. It was a terrible day many regretted letting their loved ones join, but they didn’t have a choice, it was law.

After years of fighting, all armies grew week but only one could win, who would it be. Some said America few said Russia, it’s unclear who will win but whoever looses mine as well kiss their life goodbye.

Suddenly spitting bullets where flying through the air, bodies fell, and not American but Russian the war was won. The receiving general was dead same for the cornel, American flags stabbed in the backs of dyeing ermines. They died knowing they lost, that was just what they deserved. Those greedy little morons had it coming.

For centuries the American army was proud of their accomplishments, new founding countries grew strong. Soon there would be a world war 5 and like a train nobody can stop it, and anybody hit will be killed.

Outcomes (rough)

(authors note: this is a essay about scenes determining the ending of a book's,specifically the book touching Sprite Bear.)

All books have dramatic scenes, some good some bad. Those scenes can easily determine the ending of the book. Ranging from a fight to a simple conversation, one wrong scene can make or break a book.

“Touching Sprite Bear”, a book about hardcore survival clearly has dramatic scene that determine the end of the book, and here is an example. If Cole (the main character) wouldn’t have beat up Peter (the person that the conflict revolves around) Cole would have never went to the island. If this scene wouldn’t have happen the outcome of the book could be completely different.

Some possible outcomes are if Cole wouldn’t have beat Peter, Cole wouldn’t have learned his lesson therefore he would still be a mindless jerk. Also because he wouldn’t have changed his entire school would be disorganized disaster, just like a mall on black Friday. Cole wouldn’t have gone to the island (the place where he gained control of his anger) his life would have more hardships than ever before. He would face attempted murder charges and possibly to go prison for the rest of his life.

So as you can see, one simple line can determine the ending of a book. All books have variables, some good some bad. All possible outcomes are decided before you know it. Because of that, a simple handshake or decision has the power to crumble a story, and real life has no acceptations.

Song review

(Authors note: this is a short response to two songs, it’s a rough copy and I wrote this as a journal in the first few minutes of class)

All songs have meaning. Some songs are insightful and mysteries, others dark and gloomy. Emotions make up the music industry, just like art if there is no emotion there is no point to it.

For example “Big Yellow Taxi” and “Field Below” are both well known songs. Along with most songs the lyrics alone sound like a poem, although the poem definitely doesn’t sound like the song. “Big Yellow Taxi’s lyric’s definitely weren’t happy and same with the song. But when you move to Field Below, the lyric’s are depressing but the song isn’t, the song is strong, upbeat and energetic.

As you can see, the lyrics of the song don’t always describe how you feel, that’s why some people see meanings of songs differently. It’s a miracle how songs can have hundreds of thousands of meanings twisted and burrowed inside of them.

short descripion to a long poem

(Authors note: This is a short response to the old school poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes)

One example of the metaphor the poem “Mother to Son” is, a splintery junky staircase. The stair case symbolizes life, once you start you mustn’t stop, the splinters and missing boards show flaws and breaks in life but eventually you’ll hit the top. Another example of figurative language is, life for me isn’t been no crystal stair, this means her life hasn’t been perfect in any way but she still has lived a life

On another note, there is an itching tone to this poem. You must read this poem in a Sothern accent because if you don’t you’ll have no idea what is going on. This is a sad story simply because; you know that peoples life’s weren’t good back in the day, although it does show that they can live a better life than their assisters

describing the undescribable is possable, are you confused

(Authors note: this is a short character description of Cole in the book touching spirit bear; it describes him in both books touching sprite bear and Ghost of sprite bear.)

Cole Mathews is a 16 year old misfit that won’t take no for an answer brutally mauls one of his class mates until their bones cracked. He is forced to go to juvenile detention. He didn’t know it, but his life would change in a flash.

He once was a punk dressed lowlife, but shortly after he was opted into a program called circle justice. After months of games Cole seen his chance, he was given his last chance. He was banished, into a barren wasteland. It smelled like fresh salty sea but had a hint of rotten flesh. Most may say that rehab doesn’t work but trust me, this type will.

Extended ending to touching sprite bear

(Authors note: the beginning of this writing is the authors last few lines, I wrote it just to make it easier and clearer for reading. This is my first dialog piece so it might be a little rough. I also didn’t know how to punctuate it but it looks like it’s right)

Peter shrugged awkwardly and grinned at Cole. “A circle is all I could teach him to carve.”
Cole smiled and nodded. “I’m a slow learner. But I’m working on it.”

Hours followed as peter showed Cole countless tips about carving. Cole grinned then blurted, “Peter who showed you how to carve?”
Peter chuckled. “Well Cole it’s all in your heart, my family has a long history of carving but if you insist it was my dad”.
Cole stared awkwardly then stood up and silently walked into the cabin. Minutes later Peter walked in, “hey Cole” peter shouted.
As Cole looked up peter said “you should know that you’re a free man, you don’t have to worry about going to prison anymore I forgive you”
Cole grinned and said “thanks, if it wasn’t for you my animosity would be growing with no relief, who knows I could have killed before I realized”
Peter interrupted “Cole it’s enough go to bed we will talk in the morning.

Morning came slowly as Cole left for is daily soak, while Cole was relaxing in the fridge water he heard a twig snap. Cole shouted “who’s there”.
Peter said” you almost forgot me”
Oh you were sleeping and I didn’t want to wake you” Cole exclaimed
Peter chuckled and then dove into the bone chilling water. “I came to give you the good news tomorrow we leave, to start our new life’s said peter

Twisted Themes

(authors note: this is a essay about the theme betrayal in the book Touching Sprite Bear)

Cole Mathews is a 16 year old misfit that won’t take no for an answer. He brutally mauled one of his class mates. He is forced to go to juvenile detention. He didn’t know it, but his life would change in a flash. One may wonder what kind of twisted breath taking themes are in this book.

The theme that caught my eye was betrayal. This is the first theme that appears in the book and unsurprisingly it’s there from the start. On the first few pages, Cole brutally mauled Peter and that right there is the first glimpse of betrayal. Only days later, Cole found that the entire world was trying to betray him. His freedom was revoked and he was forced to live his life in an eight foot by five foot cell in a juvenile detention center.

Another example is after a few months of solitary confinement in his small concrete cell, Cole’s parole officer, Garvey, showed up. Cole was opted into a course called Circle Justice. Given another chance Cole felt he had hope then suddenly he was banished to an island. Betrayal set in as Cole’s familiar rage returned.

Finally, towards the end of the book Cole’s contact with the Circle Justice Program dwindled as visits slowed to a halt. Luckily, Coles rage didn’t set in because if it did Coles last chance would be blown. He would be on an island with no help for months, if he let his anger get the best of him he would die.

In conclusion, betrayal is the major theme in many books, although some can argue I’m saying that Touching Sprite Bear is an amazing book. It is a amazing book not only because of its clear writing topics, but also because its plot just can’t be better.

Touching Sprite Bear Prediction

(Authors note: This is a short prediction for the book “Touching Sprite Bear” there is a summary in the beginning just to inform the person reading this of why the prediction came to be. This is a speech for my L.A class)

Touching sprite bear a book about a kid named Cole, he’s consistently getting in trouble with the cops and going to juvenile prison. The book is in his point of view. The first main thing that happened was, Cole got sent to an Alaskan island, he will be banished there for an entire year. Luckily they did give him an entire years worth of supplies, he burned it to the ground in a raging inferno. Coles elder, Gravery warned him about sprite bears, they are black bears but mysterious as fog, once they have you in their grasp your good as dead. Sadly the first Idea that popped in Coles mind was, I’m going to kill that bear and eat an extraordinary dinner.

Based on what has happening so far I’m thinking that Cole will learn his lesson real quick, he is going to attempt a 1on 1 with a black bear, if he doesn’t Cole will die and the main character cant die 1/3 of the way into a book. Although even if Cole dies nobody would be there to find his body so his mom and dad wouldn’t find out for up to a year, although they hate him and wouldn’t care if his guts where spilled they would be typically happy either.

Another book that was completely different but shared the same plot was Daemon Hall. In this book the main character went to a haunted mansion and was in contact with the Daemon himself, if he wouldn’t have learned his lesson he would be the daemons dinner.

The Fate

(Authors note: this is a short story about the year 2666 and the devil being on earth. We had do use the sentence Days of rain had swelled the rivers, floods threatened to break loose somewhere in our story.)

One day in the year 2666 the fate of mankind was decided. A devil like figure rose out of the ground, he was given the name, World Devourer. Years passed, clouds turned red fire rain from the sky, and it seemed as if the devil was on Earth. Country’s that had rising animosity towards each other suddenly became friends, in search of the World Devourer.

The year 2667 rolled in and military outposts where on every street corner, the army was 100 million strong and where prepared for anything, or so they thought. Suddenly the World Devourer rose out of the ground in a remote village in South Dakota, he grew strong devouring the soles of the dead. He grew wings and could fly like a dragon but could still look like a pitiful human.

Two years later, Days of rain had swelled the rivers, floods threatened to break loose. A General by the name of Jack Marten had a brilliant idea, to drown the devil, he would break a dam open when the devil is attacking his city and send the World Devourer back where he came from. A few days later earth was on its last wits, the devil came and the entire military knew what to do, launch a nuke on the dam destroying the dam and saving the world. Jack Marten made the call “Launch the nuke” and so the military did, saving the world while doing it.

Decades passed and earth was returning to normal, grass grew green, animals roamed the new founding forests, people returned home. Animosity rose back in between some country’s and life was like the year 2666 never happen.

Don't think about it

(Authors note: This essay is about some examples on how point of view is reflected in the short story Dead Man's Path)

There are examples of Point Of View in every short story or book ever made. Although some stories have some extraordinary examples of it, in the short story Dead Man’s Path there are no exceptions.

So far Chinua Achebe, the main character has been promoted to another school and has given himself a simple task, to make the school more modern. Wretchedly the village’s beliefs are making his job near imposable he wants to take down a path leading through the school. This is where point of view comes in, Chinua sees it as, “There is no reason not to take the path down, it’s an eyesore and kids are butchering the plants”. Just as Chinua gives the word the town starts ruling with a stone fist. The towns think because that path leads to a cemetery that all of the solders that where killed in the Civil war use that path to locate the cemetery.

Another example is, shortly after Chinua closes the path a few kids destroy the courtyard. The courtyard is a disaster and now a government worker is coming to see Chinua’s progress with the school. In his eyes he has made a terrible mistake and is worried about what the worker is going to think.

Overall, Mr. Achebe is a cocky but bold man. It seems as if he will do nearly anything to change this school but he found out real quickly, do not mess with people’s beliefs. This short story seems like it was made to demonstrate Point Of View.
